Mr Barnes had files and filing virtually covering the walls surrounding his workspace and a cupboard partially obscuring the view from the window onto a beatifully pleasing garden.  We placed a high density tall storage cupboard into one of the recesses and provided corner desking with a 1.6 x 2m clear run of worksurface to enable him to have multiple files open at any one time for reference.  An overdesk storage shelf enabled quick access to important files.  The window area was kept clear, to enable easy viewing of the garden whilst seated.
